Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Section Program and Project Supervisor (PPS), the incumbent will conduct complex economic, policy and/or technical analyses and research to support Administrative Law Judges (ALJ), Commissioners, and Advisors. The Senior Energy Pricing Analyst will lead analytical projects designing and implementing new electric industry pricing strategies and rates to promote electrification, decarbonization and customer equity.
Responsibilities include: shaping advanced rate designs through rulemaking and ratemaking proceedings, overseeing and implementing new tariffs and programs for residential and non‑residential classes, developing pricing strategies and data collection efforts that promote affordability, electrification, decarbonization and grid efficiency and reliability, and coordinating with interagency partners and the assigned Administrative Law Judge and Commissioner’s office.
Applicants must have eligibility. New state service candidates must follow the examination bulletin to gain eligibility. The examination is separate from applying for this vacancy. Virtual interviews may be offered; in‑person interviews remain available if permissible.
Applicants should provide a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) demonstrating relevant experience, with a maximum of two pages. The SOQ must address the following:
Describe your ability to manage complex long‑term projects involving large interdisciplinary teams and deliver numerous analytical work products under tight deadlines.
Describe your quantitative reasoning capacity, spreadsheet and modeling skills, and ability to effectively analyze and interpret data to formulate conclusions and recommendations.
Describe your ability to prepare and deliver persuasive written and verbal briefings on technical subject matter based on research and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.

The position requires a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). Provide CDL number, class, expiration date, endorsements and/or restrictions.
