Role Overview We’re looking for an Industrial Designer with a concentration in toys and play products who is excited by variety, enjoys working across multiple projects, and can move ideas forward efficiently. This role blends creative ideation, play pattern thinking, and hands‑on product development, with the opportunity to see concepts move from sketch to shelf in a relatively short timeframe.
The ideal candidate understands how kids (and kidults) play, thinks in terms of features, value, and price points, and can design with manufacturing realities in mind—without losing the magic of play.
Key Responsibilities Concept & Play Development
Design original toy and play concepts across multiple categories and price points
Develop clear play patterns, mechanisms, and interactive features
Translate trends, cultural moments, and buyer insights into engaging product ideas
Contribute informed input during brainstorming sessions and design reviews
Communicate concepts clearly through sketches, diagrams, and simple narratives
Independently complete 3D modeling, rendering, and print‑preparation tasks
Create fast, effective sketches, CAD models, and presentation visuals
Consistently deliver high‑quality renderings with accurate lighting, camera angles, scale, and sticker/deco setup
Evaluate designs for structural integrity, tolerances, and functional feasibility
Validate wall thickness, part separation, scale, tolerances, and basic assembly logic prior to prototyping
Iterate designs efficiently based on feedback, testing, and costing requirements
Prototyping & Product Development
Prepare files for 3D printing and physical prototyping
Troubleshoot execution or production issues and propose practical design solutions
Collaborate with the Studio team and external partners to refine designs
Review samples and provide clear, actionable feedback
Participate in basic play testing and refinement cycles
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with the Studio team and Buyers on active projects
Support buyer‑facing materials with clear product visuals, feature callouts, and play diagrams
Assist in preparing concepts and samples for sales presentations and trade shows
Provide informal guidance or support to Interns or Junior 3D Designers when needed
Share best practices related to modeling, rendering, and prototyping workflows
Contribute positively to a collaborative, fast‑paced Studio environment

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Toy Design, Product Design, or related field
2–6 years of experience designing toys or play‑focused consumer products
Strong understanding of play patterns, age grading, and toy safety considerations
Proficiency in modeling for manufacturing CAD (Rhino, Fusion 360 or equivalent), KeyShot, and Adobe Creative Suite
Strong 3D modeling, rendering, and visualization skills
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, multi‑project environment
Comfort collaborating directly with Product or QA partners
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
Familiarity with toy costing and price‑point‑driven design
Experience working with overseas manufacturers
Knowledge of plastics, plush, compounds, or simple mechanisms
