
Black River Systems Company, a small, established research‑oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY, is looking for an RF Technician. We are looking for someone to support our wireless cellular research in laboratory and field environments. This position is based in our Utica, NY location. This candidate will conduct a variety of tasks including 1) RF system and performance characterization, 2) system installation, configuration, and maintenance, and 3) experimentation and test support our advanced research projects.
Position Responsibilities:
Setup, configure and maintain set of laboratory and field telecommunications and test equipment
Inventory and asset management
Diagnose signal issues using tools like spectrum analyzers and network analyzers to ensure systems meet performance standards.
Characterize system performance through modeling, lab, and field test.
Participate in project experiments and system testing
Working at Black River and customer laboratory and field test sites.
Position Requirements:
Associate’s degree in engineering technology or related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of RF theory, telecommunication electronics, RF test equipment, and FCC regulations.
Experience with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
Very strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Working out of our Utica NY office, with possible weekly travel to test sites in Sangerfield NY, Rome NY, and Verona NY.
Travel to customer test sites within the United States as needed.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
