Position Summary At Grace Church, the Next Steps Director / Pastor advances our mission of helping people find and follow Jesus by leading clear, relational pathways that guide people into belonging, spiritual growth, and meaningful engagement in the life of the church.
Reports to:
Adult Ministries Pastor
Primary Responsibilities
Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for the Next Steps ministry as the primary engagement hub for guests and attenders, ensuring a warm, welcoming environment.
Equip, oversee, and lead Next Steps volunteer teams, with a focus on warmth, clarity, and confidence.
Own and implement the guest process, guiding clear movement from guest to member.
Lead Next-Step’s workflows for guest follow-up.
Oversee and facilitate connection spaces.
Coordinate special Sunday and seasonal engagement moments (Easter, Christmas, etc.).
Partner with ministry leaders to maintain healthy on-ramps into groups and serving, developing a volunteer pipeline from attendance to active participation.
Utilize Planning Center and Clearstream to track engagement, standardize follow-up, and ensure consistent care and communication.
Monitor and report engagement metrics, using insights to continually improve systems, communication, and ministry effectiveness.
Collaborate with staff teams to ensure collaboration and communication of shared goals.
