SENIOR PASTOR – JOB DESCRIPTION Position Summary The Senior Pastor serves as the primary spiritual, pastoral, and administrative leader of Central Baptist Church. He is responsible for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, providing visionary leadership, shepherding the congregation, and equipping the church to fulfill its mission locally and globally. The Senior Pastor is accountable to the congregation and shall faithfully uphold the spiritual qualifications for pastoral leadership as outlined in I Timothy 3:1-7. Affirms and adheres to the Central Baptist Church Declaration of Faith (Constitution, Article III) and the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).

Professes a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Fully committed to calling of pastoral ministry and the life of the church
Demonstrates a life of moral integrity, emotional maturity, and Christlike character.
Relates effectively, compassionately, and respectfully with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Christian ministry, and a minimum of five years pastoral experience is preferred. Communication and Leadership Skills
Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preaches and teaches the Word of God clearly, biblically, and effectively.
Provides leadership that is collaborative, organized, and mission focused.
Essential Responsibilities Spiritual Leadership and Pastoral Care:
Proclaim the Gospel and lead the church in evangelism and discipleship within the congregation and community.
Provide pastoral care through hospital visitation, home visits, counseling, and follow-up with members and prospects. Lead ordained and lay leadership to supplement the pastoral care needs of the ministry.
Conduct weddings, funerals, and other pastoral services as appropriate.
Provide biblical counseling and make referrals when necessary.
Worship and Ordinances
Work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers to plan, coordinate, and evaluate worship services and special services.
Provide leadership in planning the observance of church ordinances in accordance with church guidelines.
Administrative and Organizational Leadership
Serve as Chairperson of the Church Council, providing spiritual and organizational leadership by setting meeting agendas in collaboration with church leadership, presiding over meetings in an orderly and respectful manner, facilitating open and productive discussion, guiding prayerful decision-making, ensuring clear communication and implementation of Council actions, and leading the evaluation of ministry effectiveness and strategic priorities.
Provide administrative oversight and leadership for the total church program.
In cooperation with the Personnel Committee, supervise church staff; provide regular feedback and performance evaluation; and participate in the selection of staff members.
Deacons and Church Leadership
Provide leadership in selection and training of Deacons.
Attend regular Deacon meetings and coordinate with Deacons to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
Work collaboratively with all church leaders to foster unity and effective ministry.
Missions and Community Engagement
Promote and support the mission of the church locally, regionally and globally.
Actively involved in the local community, including participation in organizations such as the Bourbon County Ministerial Association.
Ethical and Confidential Responsibilities
Uphold the highest standards of trust, integrity, and confidentiality.
Handle all sensitive and privileged information with discretion.
Model unquestionable Christian ethics in all personal and professional relationships.
Residency Requirement
Reside in Bourbon County and maintain an active presence in the community.
