Position Overview The Air & Ocean Import Coordinator is responsible for managing end-to-end import shipments via air and ocean freight. This role ensures the timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of cargo while delivering exceptional service to customers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a high-volume freight forwarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate air and ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery
Arrange and monitor freight movement, including bookings, tracking, and arrival notices
Prepare, review, and process import documentation (HBL/MBL, invoices, packing lists, ISF, etc.)
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and other regulatory requirements
Communicate daily with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and trucking providers
Provide proactive updates to customers regarding shipment status and exceptions
Resolve shipment discrepancies, delays, and service issues efficiently
Accurately rate shipments and ensure timely billing and cost control
Maintain shipment records and data integrity within the TMS
Support continuous improvement initiatives and SOP adherence
Qualifications & Experience
2+ years of air and/or ocean import experience within a freight forwarding environment
Strong understanding of international import procedures and documentation
Knowledge of Incoterms, customs clearance processes, and compliance standards
Experience working with TMS and freight forwarding systems
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling both air and ocean imports
Exposure to high-volume or time-critical freight
Customs brokerage or compliance knowledge
