
We are partnering with one of the leading organizations in downtown San Diego to recruit a Marketing Manager for a long‑term consulting engagement. This role serves as the organization’s lead marketing and communications strategist while also being deeply hands‑on in day‑to‑day execution.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with institutional priorities. Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on internal and external communications. Write, edit, and refine content across digital, print, and executive communications to ensure clarity, consistency, and brand alignment. Oversee content development, editorial review, and messaging across all channels, ensuring a cohesive voice. Manage website strategy, user experience, and ongoing updates, including hands‑on content edits and minor technical adjustments. Lead the creation of digital storytelling assets, including social media content, video scripts, and multimedia campaigns. Ensure a compelling, user‑focused digital presence that supports recruitment, visibility, and engagement goals. Monitor analytics and performance metrics to optimize digital and advertising strategies. Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, academic units, and community partners. Provide operational leadership across marketing functions, balancing strategic planning with hands‑on execution. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, or public/media relations. Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience leading creative, digital, or communications teams. Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and produce high‑quality content across multiple formats. Experience managing both strategy and execution — including social media, web updates, content creation, and campaign management. Proficiency with CMS platforms, CRM systems, marketing automation tools, and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, DOMO). Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, web editing tools, and basic HTML/CMS functionality. Experience in higher education, legal, nonprofit, or mission‑driven sectors is a plus.
