Assistant Director of Admissions (Enrollment Communications Specialist)

Job Description Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Student Services, the Assistant Director of Admissions/Enrollment Communications Specialist will maintain and manage daily operations in our CRM, Technolutions Slate, as well as our communication and texting platform, Mongoose. This role will create and maintain applications and admissions processing procedures, build and implement new functionality in Slate and Mongoose to enhance new student enrollment, and help assess additional technology solutions to enhance enrollment. The Assistant Director will also oversee data management processes, ensuring accurate integration, reporting, and analysis to support enrollment strategy and communications efforts. They will assist with documenting standardized policies and procedures and collaborating with on- and off-campus partners to develop a comprehensive, multi-channel communication plan. The successful candidate will work in person in the Admissions Office at our Poughkeepsie Campus.

Help develop the strategy and implementation for regular student outreach for departments and colleagues connected to Enrollment services to maximize shared execution (e.g., Opportunity Programs, Housing, Athletics, Advising, ACT Center).

Conduct targeted outreach via email and text to guide students through application, registration, and scholarship processes.

Recruitment event building and communications planning, including Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, orientations, as well as individual admissions appointments and adult coaching sessions.

Some nights and weekends to assist with office events (e.g., Open Houses, Accepted Student Day, etc.).

Communications

Leverage Slate CRM and Mongoose Cadence to deliver targeted, effective email and text communications.

Create and manage a comprehensive strategic communications calendar.

Work with Marketing Office to develop publications and maintain inventory.

Manage content and deadlines for third‑party recruitment platforms.

Some website maintenance for the Admissions Office.

Create and manage Mongoose Cadence Texting platform to launch texting campaigns, reminders, and personalized messages.

Stay up to date on trends and best practices in enrollment communications and Slate CRM, providing recommendations for improvement.

Support Admissions team with Slate and Mongoose related activities.

Data

Create, maintain, and analyze reports and queries in Slate to support outreach, recruitment, and enrollment initiatives.

Collaborate with IT, SUNY, vendors, and other departments to manage Slate Source files as a functional user, including supporting SFTP queries to ensure accurate and timely data integration.

Track student engagement and follow‑ups to ensure successful completion of applications, registrations, and scholarship submissions.

Other Duties

Serve on campus committees and working groups.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Three to five years of experience in college admissions, marketing or communications‑related positions.

Prior experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool (Slate strongly preferred).

Experience analyzing data and creating reports.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and work independently.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of an inter‑office, cross‑disciplinary team.

Adaptability and versatility in the face of competing priorities, demands, and deadlines.

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.

Valid driver's license required.

Additional Qualifications

Excellent communications skills to support relationship building with prospective students and other constituents.

Skill and sensitivity to issues of diversity, equity and inclusion and a demonstrated commitment to building a strong and diverse communication plan.

Master's degree in business or Higher Education related field.
