
Overview
This role owns the commercial lifecycle from market development and RFQ intake through contract execution and repeat business. The Director of MRO Sales serves as the primary commercial interface between customers and Aery’s maintenance, avionics, engineering, and quality organizations. Success in this role will directly determine the Repair Station’s growth trajectory. You will play a key role in expanding Aery Aviation’s footprint in business aviation, special mission, and government sectors, ensuring that all work scopes are aligned with our capabilities, certifications, and capacity.
Responsibilities
Part 145 Technical Sales & Contract Development
- Develop and execute a sales strategy aligned with Aery Aviation’s Part 145 Repair Station capabilities, ratings, and limitations. Make recommendations to expand when appropriate.
- Grow MRO sales revenue by 2–3× through disciplined pipeline development and customer acquisition.
- Create compliant work scopes, estimates, proposals, and contracts based on AMM / MPD / CMM / AD / SB data and OEM guidance. Developing a sustaining database for flat rates.
- Ensure all proposals reflect actual tooling, manpower, certifications, and hangar capacity.
- Lead technical sales for inspections, avionics upgrades, connectivity and cabin systems, interior refurbishment, and STC-based modifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and certification teams to structure proposals for complex modification and special-mission programs.
- Target design, engineering and certification services as a stand alone or integrated into the MRO services.
Customer Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Grow Aery Aviation’s MRO customer base across: Part 91 and Part 135 operators; Corporate and private flight departments; Fleet managers and lessors; and Government, military, and special-mission operators
- Act as the primary customer contact from RFQ through delivery, ensuring responsive, clear, and accurate communication.
- Drive customer retention through disciplined communication, transparent status updates, and predictable turn times.
- Conduct on-site and virtual customer visits to understand fleet needs, maintenance planning cycles, and long-term support requirements.
- Price MRO services competitively while protecting margin and operational realism.
- Focus on high-value work scopes, including, but not limited to:
- Learjet inspections and heavy maintenance
- Avionics upgrades, troubleshooting, and connectivity installs
- Modifications, STCs, and special-mission integrations
- Interior, cabin, and component-related work (as approved)
Market Expansion for Target Airframes & Avionics
- Expand Aery’s MRO presence in the business jet and turboprop sectors (e.g., Beechcraft, Cessna, Citation, Embraer, Pilatus, Gulfstream, Cirrus, and similar platforms).
- Promote avionics and mission-system installations, troubleshooting, and upgrade packages, including Garmin and other leading integrated flight decks and retrofit solutions.
- Identify and pursue new vertical markets (ISR, law enforcement, public safety, utility fleets, and other special-mission applications).
- Provide data-driven recommendations for capability expansions - tooling, training, approvals, and STCs—based on customer demand and fleet composition.
Internal Coordination with Part 145 Operations
- Work closely with maintenance, avionics, engineering, supply chain, and quality to align sales commitments with operational reality.
- Participate in aircraft induction meetings, technical reviews, and key project milestones.
- Ensure customer expectations are consistent with regulatory requirements, documentation standards, and Aery’s quality and safety policies.
- Support resolution of scope changes, findings, and additional work with timely and transparent change-order communication to the customer.
Reporting, Forecasting & Regulatory Integrity
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast tied to labor availability, hangar capacity, material lead times, and vendor support.
- Log all opportunities, quotes, customer interactions, and outcomes in the CRM and repair station management systems.
- Ensure all marketing and sales materials accurately represent Aery Aviation’s FAA Part 145 Ratings, limitations, and capabilities.
Support leadership with regular reporting on backlog, win/loss analysis, pricing trends, and market feedback.
Qualifications
You Must Have
- 5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance estimating, planning, sales, project management, or related MRO function.
- Demonstrated success selling: Heavy inspections and scheduled maintenance; Avionics upgrades and troubleshooting; and modifications, STC programs, and interior/cabin work.
- Previous aviation maintenance or MRO experience strongly preferred, A&P certificate highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of business and special-mission aircraft (e.g., Learjet, Beechcraft, Cirrus, Gulfstream, and similar platforms).
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems, inspection packages, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, and maintenance documentation.
- Prior experience with estimating/quoting tools, ERP/MRO software, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent technical communication skills with familiarity across airframe, powerplant, avionics, and component systems.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to travel (up to 50% of the time) regularly for customer visits, industry events, and trade shows.
- Must be able to pass required background checks and pre-employment screening.
