What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Gather information from multiple sources to perform underwriting analysis and participate in special projects
Review individual risks for acceptability and prepare reports on quality and quantity of risks underwritten
Manage larger, more complex underwriting tasks and provide suggested decisions for escalated referrals
Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements, ensuring adherence to company guidelines
Communicate with agents and internal partners to facilitate underwriting processes and resolve issues
What is Required (Qualifications)
Minimum of six years of commercial lines underwriting experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
Completion of INS, AU, or similar designations with progress toward CIC and/or CPCU preferred
Strong knowledge of commercial underwriting policies, practices, and procedures
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of contacts
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience in middle market underwriting
Leadership skills and the ability to train and guide less experienced staff
Familiarity with state and federal insurance laws and regulations
Ability to analyze portfolio data and develop appropriate action plans
Experience in business development and consulting with agents
