We are seeking a detail-oriented
Accounting Specialist
to support the day-to-day accounting operations of our growing small business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment and has strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, supporting month‑end close, and assisting leadership with financial analysis.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries.
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking.
Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes.
Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
Maintain organized accounting documentation and audit‑ready files.
Excel‑Based Analysis & Data Management
Create and maintain advanced Excel workbooks for reporting and analysis.
Use pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX‑MATCH, and other formulas to analyze large datasets.
Develop automated templates and spreadsheets to improve reporting efficiency.
Clean, organize, and reconcile exported data from accounting or ERP systems.
Assist with audit preparation and external CPA requests.
Support tax filings and regulatory reporting as directed.
Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and workflow efficiencies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of accounting experience (public or industry).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, nested formulas, data validation).
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a small‑company environment.
