Technical Marketing Engineer (Event IT Operations)
Rate: $50/hr | W2 | Hybrid (Remote with onsite presence at San Jose lab 1–2 times per week)
Role Overview We are seeking a Technical Marketing Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of technical services for sponsored events. This consultant will partner with Event Marketing, Event Management, vendors, and technical teams to ensure event IT infrastructure is properly designed, implemented, documented, and supported throughout the event lifecycle.
This role blends hands on technical execution with project coordination, documentation management, and cross functional stakeholder communication across multiple concurrent events. The consultant will support both planning and onsite delivery activities and will play a key role in ensuring technical readiness and successful event execution. This position requires onsite presence at the San Jose lab 1 to 2 times per week.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Technical Request process, ensuring submissions are reviewed, tracked, and documented accurately
Update technical diagrams, specifications, and related documentation as requirements evolve
Maintain project records and documentation within required management tools
Develop event resource and staffing plans, including timelines, sequencing, and dependencies
Coordinate onboarding, scheduling, and task execution for contract labor and technical resources
Plan equipment installations and IT service orders supporting internal and external event stakeholders
Design and support IT network plans for event environments
Assist with onsite network setup, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and contingency planning
Coordinate technical infrastructure installations and onsite IT deployment activities
Serve as a primary technical point of contact for event delivery
Align technical plans, requirements, and timelines with event teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders
Prepare post event documentation including performance summaries, issues, and recommendations
Capture lessons learned and support process improvements for future events
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Technical Marketing Engineering, event technology, IT project coordination, or a related technical role
Strong understanding of IT and networking fundamentals in event based or field environments
Experience reviewing and updating technical diagrams, network layouts, and documentation
Familiarity with networking or event technology tools
Experience using project tracking and documentation platforms
Highly organized with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting corporate events, trade shows, or conferences
Hands on troubleshooting or basic network configuration experience
Familiarity with asset tracking or ticketing tools such as ServiceNow
