Continuous Improvement Manager - (GTC Manager)
Our client manufactures sustainable packaging solutions for the flexible packaging market. They are a market leader in North America with exciting plans for expansion. This role focuses on implementing lean / CI projects whilst working on-site at a state-of-the-art leading Flexographic printer.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced and driven lean / CI professional to manage the Customer Graphical Technical Center (GTC) flexographic processes and provide high-quality technical support to our customer. This role is critical in delivering products and services that enable customer success, while also meeting the company’s operational, safety, and performance targets. The
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a zero workplace injury and incident record by promoting a clean, organized, and safe work environment using Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles
Comply with all company and customer safety requirements, including participation in monthly safety training and consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Manage inventory levels to support customer press schedules while meeting company inventory targets (Days on Hand)
Develop, implement, and maintainStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ink weigh-up, dispensing, and blending to meet customer color and quality specifications
Perform color matching and maintain accurate customer formulation files
Develop and manage plans to reduce press returns and obsolete materials, ensuring accurate record keeping
Coordinate scheduling and assignments for all GTC personnel to ensure “Ink to Press” requirements are met while supporting overtime cost reduction initiatives
Provide hands‑on technical support and troubleshooting for customer press and ink‑related issues
Document and communicate technical issues to the company’s Technical Service Representatives
Maintain and update an Action Register for continuous improvement of customer and ink room processes
Prepare and maintain accurate manufacturing and quality control records, including press adjustments, downtime documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Provide coverage for Graphic Technician duties as required
Maintain performance records for Graphic Technicians, approve timecards, and make recommendations for promotions and compensation increases
Experience and Skills required
Minimum of three years’ experience in the implementation of lean / CI projects within a manufacturing environment with consistent delivery of high-quality output
Ideally advanced technical knowledge of flexographic printing, including diagnosing and resolving complex print challenges. Candidates with strong knowledge of other manufacturing processes will be considered
Practical experience applying Lean or 5S methodologies within a manufacturing or print environment
In‑depth understanding of pre‑press and pressroom operations
Strong competency in colour management, spectrophotometry, and related software tools
Proven record of leading technical or operational projects to successful completion
Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate within cross‑functional teams and influence outcomes without direct authority
Strong analytical capability, with experience translating technical results into business‑level insights
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
