Senior Art Director – Subaru of America Summary of the Job:
We are looking for a Senior Art Director who will push conceptual boundaries and build on our award‑winning legacy. You will collaborate closely with copywriters and senior leadership to craft creatively strong campaigns across online video, social, influencer, digital media, experiential and PR channels. Your work will drive strategic, socially resonant storytelling while maintaining meticulous craftsmanship.
Essential Functions / Accountabilities
Own creative assignments, including video, digital media, social, influencer and experiential work in collaboration with our copywriter roster.
Prioritize craft and execution that aligns with client visual‑ID, strategic insights and cultural relevance.
Develop deep understanding of Subaru of America’s business with guidance from ECDs, CDs, account managers and planners.
Deliver high‑quality creative taste and presentations.
Manage outside suppliers—director/photographer selection, talent, sound design/music—as needed.
Collaborate seamlessly with ECD, CDs, project management, account management, brand planning and social strategy.
Translate client and director feedback into actionable creative work.
Ideate and pitch integrated campaign ideas to Creative Directors.
Actively participate in the Minneapolis advertising community and Carmichael Lynch culture.
Working Relationships, Autonomy, and Supervision The Senior Art Director will regularly collaborate with Creative, Project Management, Account Management, Social Strategy, Brand Planning, Production, Studio and Content Lab teams. Oversight comes from Creative Directors and/or Executive Creative Directors, and projects are assigned by the Director of Creative Operations.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
Education:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in advertising, visual art or a closely‑related field.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5+ years experience with a portfolio that makes creatives do a double take.
Strong ability to work as a team and independently.
Production/on‑set experience required for this senior position.
Leadership abilities with a desire to mentor junior creatives.
Preferred supervisory experience.
Track record of highly‑awarded creative output.
Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000 annually.
