About The Role Applied Materials is seeking an Instructional Designer & Learning Programs Specialist to help design, build, and deliver learning programs focused on technical upskilling and AI enablement across the company. This is a hands‑on, hybrid role that blends instructional design with learning program execution. The person in this role will create high‑quality learning content while also helping shape and support learning programs from early discovery through launch and iteration. A core part of the role is partnering with stakeholders to identify skill gaps, learner pain points, and business needs, and translating those insights into a prioritized learning content pipeline.
The ideal candidate is a practitioner who enjoys building learning, supporting real programs, and enabling learning that scales across roles, regions, and experience levels.
What You’ll Do
Design and build engaging digital learning content, including self‑paced courses, blended learning assets, and instructor‑led support materials
Create short‑form, modular learning such as microlearning, job aids, quick‑reference guides, and performance support for just‑in‑time learning
Develop storyboards, scripts, interactive activities, and assessments grounded in adult learning principles
Use tools such as Articulate Rise and/or Storyline to create, publish, and continuously improve learning content
Support end‑to‑end delivery of learning programs, from early discovery through build, review, launch, and iteration
Support and facilitate live learning sessions and workshops for large, global audiences
Engage stakeholders to identify skill gaps, learner pain points, and role‑based needs, particularly for technical and digital roles
Translate business and learner needs into clear learning objectives and a prioritized content pipeline
Contribute to AI and technical upskilling initiatives by supporting course content, learner resources, and program materials
Support learning operations across platforms such as AGU and PATHWAY, including publishing, updates, and basic learner support
What You’re Good At
Designing and building digital learning content, including short‑form and modular learning
Applying adult learning principles to create clear, engaging, and practical learning experiences
Turning ambiguous inputs and stakeholder needs into structured learning content
Balancing content creation with program support and operational follow‑through
Communicating clearly in writing and collaborating across teams, roles, and time zones
Preferred Qualifications
Experience creating microlearning, performance support, just‑in‑time learning assets, or social media‑based learning
Exposure to technical, digital, or AI‑related learning content
Familiarity with LMS/LXP environments and learning publishing workflows
Experience working in a global, matrixed organization

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
