
The Illinois Press Association (IPA) is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced
Advertising Account Manager . The IPA Account Manager will sell print + digital advertising space in local, regional and national newspapers and state‑wide network programs through client‑direct and agency relationships using IPA’s “One Call, One Order, One Invoice” advertising placement service. This position will be focused on securing new business revenue from non‑traditional newspaper advertisers.
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the salesperson will be responsible for prospecting, presentation preparation, and meeting sales goals for the organization and its members.
Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Understanding of newspapers and newspaper product portfolios including digital advertising, e‑newsletters, rate cards, and deadlines
Prospecting for new advertisers and servicing existing accounts
Achieving sales goals as set by IPA management
Meeting with the IPA President to review sales strategies and goals
Working closely with IPA advertising support staff to execute media buys
Coordinating with IPA team members on convention and special projects
Skills Required:
Strong consultative selling skills – including prospecting, qualifying leads & cold calling
Ability to set and achieve sales goals
Ability to create in‑depth presentations and media kits
Proficient in working with numbers and calculating with percentages
Ability to multi‑task, coordinate multiple projects at once and to work independently or as a team
Capable of working under deadline
Knowledge of Windows operating systems
Physical & Other Requirements
Ability to work extensively at a computer and complete physical tasks as needed.
Commitment to IPA’s policies and professional standards.
Compensation Package
Base salary, plus commission, plus medical, dental, vision, life and 401K match.
