Job Summary With supervision, assist with the preparation of the Company's tax compliance including federal and state income tax, ASC 740 financial reporting, sales and use tax, property tax, backup withholding, information reporting and other miscellaneous tax projects.

Responsibilities

Federal and State Income Tax: Applies broad based knowledge of federal and state income tax laws, taxing jurisdiction policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Company systems, corporate operations, and detailed data manipulation skills to:

Assist with the preparation of the consolidated federal income tax return. This includes soliciting information from various parties, preparing supporting workpapers and maintaining the tax compliance software.

Assist with the preparation of state income tax returns, extensions and estimated payments utilizing tax compliance software.

Assist with the preparation of quarterly and year-end ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes) financial reporting. This may include any or all of the following: soliciting information from various parties, calculating the appropriate income tax expense and liability amounts, and preparing rate reconciliation calculations.

Assist with updating the Company’s tax publications and communications to support the Independent Beauty Consultants.

Maintain general knowledge of current federal and state income tax laws and regulations.

Under close supervision assist with preparing audit documentation.

Sales and Use Tax: Applies broad based knowledge of sales and use tax laws, taxing jurisdiction policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Company systems, corporate operations and detailed data manipulation skills to:

With supervision, prepare sales, use, business license and gross receipt tax returns and other duties related to monthly, quarterly, and yearly compliance such as reconciliations and journal entries.

Assist with daily review of Ariba invoices to ensure sales tax is collected or use tax is accrued properly in accordance with the law.

With supervision, communicate and resolve issues with taxing jurisdictions, Independent Beauty Consultants, outside vendors and internal customers.

With supervision, perform sales and use tax law research and analysis.

Assist with responses to vendor exemption request.

Assist with sales tax audits under close supervision including preparing documentation, reviewing Company documents requested by auditors, and analyzing the requested documentation for potential liabilities as well as independent contractor issues.

Perform sales tax journal entries, other monthly functions and special projects.

Other Taxes: Assists with other projects as assigned to support corporate tax operations

Assist with the preparation of semiweekly, mid-month and month-end backup withholding remittance and compliance for Federal and state.

Assist with the Company’s information reporting compliance program.

Assist with preparation of domestic property tax returns.

Assist in the preparation of other tax returns and research.

This role requires onsite work at our Global Headquarters in Addison, TX.

Skills & Experience

Experience:

0-3 years of experience

Education:

Bachelor/University Degree in accounting with an emphasis in tax. Eligible to sit for the CPA exam preferred.

Technology/Tools:

Understanding of tax research (Checkpoint or RIA), and tax compliance (i.e. OneSource, Vertex) and Adobe Acrobat Professional software is preferred.

Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills with extensive knowledge of MS Excel.

Knowledge of or familiarity with PeopleSoft and JD Edwards general ledger and fixed asset systems is preferred.

Utilizes existing digital tools and technologies to perform tasks at a high level of productivity.

Internal Controls: Ability to review and understand company financial policies and procedures and ensure that these policies and procedures are followed.
