Requirements Overview The School Age & Camp Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in designing and delivering dynamic, high-quality School Age and Camp programs that align with the JCC’s mission and SACC philosophy. This position fosters a positive, inclusive environment for children, families, and staff while ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and outstanding customer service. Through collaborative leadership and a commitment to excellence, the Assistant Director helps cultivate enriching experiences that promote growth, connection, and community.
General Responsibilities
Assist School Age Director in overall supervision of Summer Camp program, including, but not limited to: adherence to DPW regulations, organizing Opening and Closing ceremonies, planning and implementing activities, mentoring, training, and supervising staff, maintaining camp paperwork, enforcement of personnel policies, and the processing of staff paperwork.
Communication with families (personal contact, Activit-E; Facebook).
Adheres to STARS and NAEYC’S regulations and standards
Helps at both campuses, Gan Tamar and York Academy.
Adhering to the School Age Program annual budget.
Positively and actively promoting the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public.
Provide excellent customer service to day camp families, JCC members, staff, and guests by adhering to the JCC Consumer Code of Conduct.
Other duties as needed or assigned.
Performance Expectations
Understand/possess an openness to Jewish religion and traditions
Attend all meetings and events that support the department’s main objectives and responsibilities
Positively and actively promote the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public
Be familiar with the mission, vision statements, and Core Values of the JCC. Model the Core Values while working and communicating with members and staff
Skills and Qualifications
BA degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or degree and equivalent experience to meet state guidelines
Minimum three to four years’ experience working with school age children
