Summary We are representing a well-established, respected commercial General Contractor seeking an experienced

Construction Estimator

to support ground-up commercial projects through full plan-and-spec hard bidding. Based near Pico Rivera, this role is responsible for preparing detailed takeoffs, managing subcontractor pricing, and producing accurate, competitive bids for public and private commercial construction projects.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical estimating expertise, experience working from complete drawing sets, and the ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities • Prepare complete quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from full sets of construction documents (plans & specs) • Lead hard bid pursuits for ground-up commercial construction projects • Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope requirements to ensure comprehensive coverage • Solicit, level, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids • Develop detailed scopes, clarifications, and exclusions for each estimate • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and preconstruction teams during bid development • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies • Prepare conceptual budgets, GMPs, and final bid proposals • Maintain accurate bid logs and estimating documentation • Support handoff meetings to operations teams after award

Qualifications • 4+ years of commercial construction estimating experience with a General Contractor • Proven experience estimating ground-up, plan-and-spec, hard bid projects • Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings • Experience managing multiple concurrent bids and deadlines • Strong subcontractor relationship and negotiation skills • Excellent analytical, math, and problem-solving abilities • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, and estimating/takeoff software
