FULL SALARY RANGE: $147,680 – $214,073.60 annually

ANTICIPATED HIRING SALARY RANGE: $147,680 - $180,876.80 annually Commensurate to experience.

This is a full-time/exempt position

Remote/Hybrid: Typical schedules are in-office Monday through Friday. Remote and flexible scheduling may be discussed upon hire and supervisor approval.

About the Role

As Finance Director, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the City’s financial operations to ensure fiscal integrity, accountability, and transparency. This position directs and manages the Finance Department’s activities and staff, including accounting, budgeting, revenue management, investments, debt administration, and financial reporting. You will serve as a key advisor to City leadership on all financial matters and ensure that financial policies, practices, and systems support the City’s strategic and operational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and management for all Finance Department operations, including accounting, payroll, budget, investments, and tax administration.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, goals, objectives, and performance standards.
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements, management reports, and analysis.
  • Direct annual operating and capital budget development and long‑range fiscal planning.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and internal controls; oversee audit and ACFR preparation.
  • Manage investment of City funds and monitor market trends.
  • Oversee issuance and compliance of City debt obligations.
  • Provide oversight of tax collection, auditing, and enforcement activities.
  • Advise City leadership on financial impacts of policy decisions and economic trends.

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of public finance, governmental accounting, and municipal budgeting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with ability to analyze programs and implement improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, public administration, business administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in finance and accounting, including three years in a supervisory role.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
