Role Overview\nThe Deputy/Assistant IT Director manages regional services and resources necessary to support the Central region of Indiana. You will also support the Northern and Southern regions for larger projects and as needed to ensure continuity across the state. This position works closely with other Field Technology Managers, IOT staff, and state agencies to ensure issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.

Key outcomes for this role are

Coordinate projects and services for the Central Indiana Support Team.

Complete human resources functions to include adequate staffing and coverage, time approval, and performance assessments.

Ensure that central offices have sufficient support to be able to meet the Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements as documented on the IOT website.

Assist with coordinating resources in all regions for statewide projects.

Maximize stewardship by reducing travel and strategically utilizing resources already in the field.

This is an onsite position at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Residency in the service area is preferred. Work‑related travel is reimbursed.

Salary\nThe salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life\nThe essential functions of this role are:

Assist the IT Director in developing current and long‑range direction of technology in accordance with the direction of the agency.

Assist the IT Director in setting policies and procedures, technical standards and methods and priorities for information systems activities.

Assume director’s responsibilities in their absence.

Dispense technical advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures.

Analyze new technologies and make recommendations.

Assist the executive team in the budgeting process.

Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Monitor time and dollar expenditures to ensure projects and budgets meet established targets.

Represent the agency’s information technology division at events and meetings.

Assist in the budgeting process with agency senior management for the information technology division.

Coordinate, review, analyze, and make recommendations related to requests for proposals of information technology/security projects, ensuring that proposals comply with technical specifications and other IT strategic objectives.

Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.

Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or

Associate’s Degree and 3 years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or

Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

Role Overview:

The Deputy/Assistant IT Director manages regional services and resources necessary to support the Central region of Indiana. You will also support the Northern and Southern regions for larger projects and as needed to ensure continuity across the state. This position works closely with other Field Technology Managers, IOT staff, and state agencies to ensure issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner.

Key outcomes for this role are:

Coordinate projects and services for the Central Indiana Support Team.

Complete human resources functions to include adequate staffing and coverage, time approval, and performance assessments.

Ensure that central offices have sufficient support to be able to meet the Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements as documented on the IOT website.

Assist with coordinating resources in all regions for statewide projects.

Maximize stewardship by reducing travel and strategically utilizing resources already in the field.

This is an onsite position at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Residency in the service area is preferred. Work-related travel is reimbursed.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

The essential functions of this role are:

Assist the IT Director in developing current and long-range direction of technology in accordance with the direction of the agency.

Assist the IT Director in setting policies and procedures, technical standards and methods and priorities for information systems activities.

Assume director’s responsibilities in their absence.

Dispense technical advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures.

Analyze new technologies and make recommendations.

Assist the executive team in the budgeting process

Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Monitor time and dollar expenditures to ensure projects and budgets meet established targets

Represent the agency’s information technology division at events and meetings

Assist in the budgeting process with agency senior management for the information technology division.

Coordinates, reviews, analyzes, and makes recommendations related to requests for proposals of information technology/security projects, ensuring that proposals comply with technical specifications and other IT strategic objectives.

Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.

Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
