The Wamego Special Education Cooperative- USD 320 Wamego- USD 323 Rock Creek- USD 329 Wabaunsee- is currently accepting applications for the position of Director of the Special Services Cooperative. The successful candidate will work cohesively to support the development of a unified educational system that addresses the needs of nearly 600 students ranging in ages from birth to 21. In addition- the Director of Special Services will oversee and manage the Special Education Services within the Cooperative districts of Wamego- Rock Creek (323) and Wabaunsee (329). The Director of Special Services will also supervise the Infant Toddler Program Coordinator. Qualifications: Graduate Degree in Special Education Experience as a District Level Special Education Administrator is preferred but not required This candidate should exhibit leadership skills- which includeeffective interpersonal communication- problem solving- and other management skills- as well as a strong background in the following areas: Leadership skills that work to develop a seamless system of services for all children Is committed to transparent communication with all constituents Works collaboratively with school administrators and community agencies Knowledge of instructional needs of exceptional learners and ability to develop services to meet those needs Supports staff members through time- resources- and advocacy Understands and can apply school law and special education laws Administers a $6 million dollar budget with fiscal integrity and appropriate oversight of all costs.
