
Tool Designer/Tooling Engineer
— Marietta, GA $3,320.00/Weekly Excess of 40 Hours Per Week: $90.30/Hour
The Senior Tool Designer/Tooling Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, optimization, and lifecycle management of manufacturing tooling in a high-complexity aircraft environment. This role provides technical leadership across tool design and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of complex tools, molds, jigs, and fixtures used in the manufacturing process
Create tool design concepts based on written tool requirements
Ability to review and modify existing tool designs
Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring tooling and production issues
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase tool life, reliability, and efficiency
Work with tooling suppliers to support the manufacture of tools you have designed
Assist in tool trials, validation, and production readiness
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements
Previous Lockheed Martin tooling experience a plus, but not required
100% onsite support required at the Lockheed Marietta, GA facility
Must be able to walk extended distance to shop floor as required
Must be able to climb multiple sets of stairs as required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent years of experience
Minimum of 15 years of Aircraft or Aerospace tooling experience
Advanced knowledge of tooling design, materials, and manufacturing processes
Strong proficiency in Catia version 5 software and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience in problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and process optimization
Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
