Job Title: Electric Distribution Designer We are seeking an Electric Distribution Designer to join our dynamic team to enhance infrastructure within the utility sector. The ideal candidate will bring at least 2 years of experience in electrical distribution design. This role involves designing, planning, and coordinating low voltage electric distribution projects. We are looking for a solution-oriented individual who can uphold high standards while meeting tight deadlines, and who is self-motivated, collaborative, and possesses excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design electrical distribution systems in compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Collaborate with clients, project managers, and team members to gather project requirements and provide updates.

Communicate with the public about upcoming project work to minimize disruptions and maintain community engagement.

Complete asset assessments of overhead and underground electric equipment.

Produce detailed design documentation, including drawings and specifications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Perform engineering functions and calculations, such as voltage drop and flicker.

Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for proposed projects.

Prepare and facilitate requests for forestry, permitting, and Right-of-Way acquisition.

Analyze utility poles using PoleForeman software and prepare joint pole authorizations.

Provide technical oversight and quality assurance of team designs and analysis.

Maintain organized project files and documentation for easy retrieval.

Contribute to a positive team environment by fostering collaboration and open communication.

Essential Skills

Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical distribution design within a utility setting.

Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD.

Experience with power distribution, power delivery, and distribution design.

Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with DDS and Crews software is preferred.

An associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred for entry-level candidates.

Experience with ESS4, DDS, and Crews is advantageous.

A background in engineering or technical education is beneficial.

Work Environment The role involves a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the Columbus, OH office and 2 days working from home after training. The team is part of a growing department linked to the Utility Energy Division, which recently secured a significant contract with Consumers Energy. This position offers an opportunity for growth and advancement within the department, which experienced a 30% growth last year and anticipates a 40% growth this year. The organization encourages professional development, including preparation for the FE exam and progression towards a PE license. Benefits include vacation and holiday allowances.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $39.00/hr.
