What You’ll Do
Design electrical distribution systems in compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Collaborate closely with clients, project managers, and internal teams to understand project needs and provide progress updates.
Communicate with community members to inform them of upcoming project work and minimize disruptions.
Complete asset assessments for both overhead and underground electric equipment.
Produce detailed design documentation, drawings, specifications, and calculations with precision and accuracy.
Perform essential engineering functions (e.g., voltage drop, flicker calculations).
Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for proposed projects.
Prepare forestry requests, permitting documentation, and Right‑of‑Way acquisition needs.
Perform detailed pole analyses using PoleForeman software.
Prepare joint pole authorizations and coordinate with third parties.
Provide technical oversight, QA/QC review, and guidance to team members.
Maintain well‑organized project files and documentation.
Foster a collaborative, positive, and communication‑rich team environment.

What to Expect in This Role You’ll begin by supporting ESS4 work—designing and closing out work orders for repairs based on issues identified by field teams. You’ll receive training on DDS (design package software) and Crews, FirstEnergy’s version of SAP used to complete work orders.
As you grow in the role, you’ll advance into make‑ready work and eventually low‑voltage distribution (LVD) design. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer looking to deepen their technical skill set and build a long‑term career in the utility sector.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cincinnati, OH.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $39.00/hr.
