About Slate
At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.
Who We Are Looking For
A visual communicator obsessed with making cool shit, scrolling their feed, geeking out on design and/or watching weird film-school deep cuts.
A lover of aesthetics who feels torn between picking between graphic and motion design.
A curious learner and design Swiss-army knife who’s equally comfortable in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Figma as they are in AfterEffects, Blender, or Flame.
An idea-engine to create visual executions across a range of materials and media, including static and motion graphics.
Someone comfortable throwing out ideas for campaigns and content, with the chops to execute beautifully.
A chill collaborator to partner with other designers, copywriters, video editors, photographers, videographers, and internal and external stakeholders.
The type of person who bristles at bad type, cringes at crappy kerning, and reflexively redesigns things in your mind.
A passionate self-starter who loves making complicated things simple, simple things interesting, and everything beautiful.
Someone who takes the work seriously but not themselves.
What You Get to Do
Work with creative leadership to establish, evolve and refine our brand.
Bring the brand to life through a spectrum of digital, physical, and multimedia executions.
Provide strategic rationale for aesthetic and creative choices.
Collaborate closely with the social and production teams to develop motion design and create video content.
Design everything from collateral to videos to promotions to products.
Be part of a scrappy creative team who advocates for smart, disruptive ideas.
Create work that makes others jealous.
Be an integral part of a growing creative team that’s defining a new auto brand.
Stay on top of – and share – great work, inspiration, and industry trends.
As our Graphic Designer, you’ll be a key contributor to our creative output and report directly to the Head of Creative.
What You Bring to the Team
Bachelor’s degree or experience in marketing, advertising, or a related field.
5+ years of proven brand design experience in-house or at an agency.
Fluent in designing for digital properties including websites, social, email and more.
In-depth working knowledge of design trends, principles, and techniques.
Experience juggling projects from ideation to production, through post-production and delivery.
Able to work both independently and within a highly collaborative environment.
A knack for using feedback to make your work even better.
Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skills.
Expert in design software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Comfort working in Microsoft 365 including Power Point, Word, Excel.
Color, typography, and animation nerds welcome.
A love of automotive is helpful but not necessary.
