JOB DESCRIPTION Crime Stories is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Associate Producer to join our production team in Atlanta. This role works closely with a distributed production team across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, tech-savvy, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

As an Associate Producer, you will be involved in all aspects of daily show production, including studio operations, editorial support, research, writing, booking, and post-production. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong editorial judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Daily Production & Editorial Support

Support the host and editorial team in all aspects of daily show production

Work closely with on‑air host and senior producers to execute the editorial vision of the program

Assist with rundown preparation, segment planning, and real‑time production needs

Monitor breaking news and developing crime stories relevant to the show

Studio & Technical Operations

Oversee daily studio operations, including powering up equipment each morning

Ensure cameras, microphones, lighting, and other equipment are properly set and functioning

Test connectivity and communication with the remote control room and engineering teams

Maintain a clean, organized studio environment and reset the studio after each taping

Serve as the on‑site liaison between the studio and remote production and engineering staff

Research & Editorial Preparation

Conduct in-depth research on crime stories, legal cases, and guests

File and manage FOIA requests as needed for editorial reporting

Hunt down images, videos, and background information across all major social media platforms

Maintain strong organization of research materials, media assets, and program notes

Archive program notes and materials at the conclusion of each show

Post-Production & Editing

Edit audio files for commercial spots, promos, and full shows as needed

Assist with video editing and graphic creation using Adobe Premiere and Canva

Manage and organize media assets for editorial and promotional use

Writing & Audience Engagement

Write and edit scripts for daily programs

Draft copy for social media platforms and assist with digital publishing

Monitor show email and social media inquiries, responding or routing as appropriate

Support audience engagement initiatives and viewer communications

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

3+ years of professional experience in journalism, media production, or a related field

Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills

Ability to work calmly and efficiently under tight deadlines and live‑production pressure

High level of comfort with computers, technology, and production systems

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Canva

Strong research skills and attention to detail

Solid understanding of media rights, clearances, and licensing

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

Prior experience in news, talk, or crime‑focused programming

Experience working in a studio or live production environment

Familiarity with legal reporting, court systems, or investigative journalism

Social media content creation or digital publishing experience

Location & Schedule

Must be available for early mornings, live broadcasts, and occasional schedule flexibility based on production needs

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $67,000.00-70,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
