Maximum Canine is a full-service dog training, behavior, fitness, and nutrition center located in Deer Park, NY. Our rapidly growing company is focused on fostering a strong community of individuals who have the best interests of dogs and their humans in mind.
Position Overview Maximum Canine is looking to add experienced dog trainers to learn and grow with our team! There is plenty of room for long-term growth and education for the right candidate. The ideal candidate is experienced in handling dogs with various temperaments, breeds, ages, and sizes and working through issues, but not limited to basic and advanced obedience, distractions, and behavioral concerns such as reactivity, resource guarding, anxiety, and aggression. We consider ourselves reward-based, balanced trainers with an emphasis on the relationship between dog and handler. Candidates should be able to adapt to the learning styles of both owners and dogs and be able to adjust training style to meet the needs of the dog in front of them.
Responsibilities
Undergo the Maximum Canine training program for dog trainers
Work with client dogs during board and train and boarding programs
Teach private and group lessons in our facility or in the client's home
Communicate with clients clearly and professionally
Maintain the health of the dogs under their care
Qualifications
You must have at least one year of professional dog training experience. (certification preferred but not required)
For candidates with less than one year of experience, we encourage you to explore our kennel attendant position.
Must have a valid driver's license
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
Work Environment Trainers will be expected to work indoors and outdoors in all weather. Nights, weekends, and holiday hours will be required, and the work schedule will vary. Travel may also be required.
Weekends may be required based on client demand.
Physical Requirements Candidates must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 90lbs. Must be able to perform physical activities associated with training a dog inside and outside in all weather conditions.

Mornings, evenings, and one weekend day per week required

$18 to $25 an hour (Depending on experience)
$38,000 - $65,000 per year
