KMFA Classical 89.5 is seeking a strategic, relationship‑driven Membership Director to lead our individual giving and membership programs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a close‑knit, passionate team dedicated to sharing the inspirational power of classical music with listeners in Central Texas and beyond.

The Membership Director oversees all membership operations—including database management, direct mail, and on‑air fundraising—and plays a key role in growing membership revenue, expanding our sustaining member base, and cultivating donors who give $500+ annually. This role blends strategy, creativity, collaboration, and hands‑on execution.

Key Responsibilities

Lead planning and execution of all individual membership fundraising and stewardship initiatives.

Develop and manage strategies for new member acquisition, renewals, additional gifts, lapsed campaigns, and sustaining membership growth.

Oversee the station’s direct mail program across all giving levels.

Collaborate with the Director of Individual Giving to strengthen the pipeline from membership to mid‑level, major, and planned giving.

On‑Air Fund Drives

Strategize and shape the tone, pacing, and goals of on‑air fund drives.

Develop approaches to increase participation and determine premiums and member benefits.

Delegate logistics and drive management to the Development Manager as needed.

Communications & Stewardship

Guide the creation of written, audio, and digital communications for membership campaigns, including online appeals, on‑air messaging, acknowledgments, and year‑end tax receipts.

Ensure timely and accurate gift processing, acknowledgments, and donor stewardship in partnership with the Development Manager.

Maintain high standards of donor service and uphold KMFA’s gift acceptance policies.

Oversee Membership Department operations and provide problem‑solving support to staff and third‑party partners.

Monitor KPIs, analyze monthly reports, and use data to drive decision‑making.

Develop and manage the annual membership work plan and communications calendar.

Track and meet annual revenue goals of approximately $700,000 and manage departmental expenses.

Meet regularly with the Chief Revenue Officer to discuss strategy, opportunities, and challenges.

Community Engagement

Represent KMFA at station and community events—including some evenings and weekends—to cultivate and steward members.

Engage face‑to‑face with donors to build authentic, lasting relationships.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3–4 years of full‑time development experience, specifically in annual fund or membership programs.

Strong strategic thinking, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines and revenue targets.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including copy editing and proofreading.

Experience with CRM systems, data hygiene, and reporting.

A data‑driven approach to innovation and goal‑setting.

Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred

Experience with public media on‑air fundraising drives.

Self‑starter who thrives with autonomy.

High integrity and commitment to donor‑centered fundraising.

Personable, authentic, and skilled at relationship‑building.

Passion for classical music or the arts.

Occasional extended hours, evenings, and weekends required.

Hybrid schedule: currently two in‑office days per week at KMFA studios.

No supervisory responsibilities.
