Our client hiring a Junior Editor to support the development of original digital storytelling for a fast-growing digital media and entertainment organization. This role is designed for someone early in their editorial career recent graduates or editors with a few years of experience who is passionate about manga, manhua, and mobile-first comics, and excited to learn how stories are built, refined, and scaled on a vertical-scrolling digital platform.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work directly with creators, learn professional editorial workflows, and grow within a collaborative, creator-first environment.

The Role As a Junior Editor, you will support a portfolio of original digital series, helping creators refine story structure, pacing, and reader engagement especially for vertical-scroll, mobile-native formats. You’ll work closely with more senior editors to learn best practices, contribute thoughtful feedback, and build strong foundations in serialized digital storytelling.

This role is ideal for someone who deeply understands the visual language and storytelling conventions of manga and manhua, enjoys analyzing story flow and reader experience, and wants to grow into a long-term editorial career in digital comics and narrative media.

Key Responsibilities Editorial Support & Series Development

Support the editorial development of original digital series from pitch through ongoing production.

Review scripts, outlines, and chapters, providing clear and constructive feedback on:

Story clarity and readability in a vertical-scrolling format.

Pacing, transitions, and panel flow for mobile consumption.

Chapter hooks, cliffhangers, and early-reader engagement.

Help ensure stories align with platform standards and audience expectations.

Learn how to identify potential story risks and collaborate on solutions with senior editors.

Work with creators to communicate editorial notes clearly, respectfully, and constructively.

Support creators in understanding how vertical-scroll storytelling affects pacing, structure, and visual beats.

Assist with maintaining production schedules, organization, and version tracking.

Build positive, professional relationships with creators and internal teams.

Apply knowledge of manga and manhua storytelling styles, tropes, and audience expectations.

Stay informed on trends in digital comics, webcomics, and serialized mobile storytelling.

Develop an understanding of how platform data and reader behavior inform editorial decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with senior editors and internal partners across content, strategy, and operations.

Support launches and ongoing updates for digital series as needed.

Qualifications Required

0–3 years of relevant experience in editing, publishing, comics, webcomics, or narrative development (including internships, assistant roles, or academic projects).

Strong familiarity with manga and/or manhua, including storytelling conventions, pacing, and visual structure.

Demonstrated understanding of vertical-scrolling, mobile-first storytelling

Experience working with or developing serialized stories designed for digital platforms.

Strong written communication skills and the ability to give clear, thoughtful feedback.

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Passion for digital storytelling, comics, and emerging narrative formats.

Preferred

Hands-on experience editing or developing webcomics, digital comics, or visual narratives.

Personal projects, coursework, or portfolio work involving vertical-scroll comics or scripts.

Familiarity with action, thriller, fantasy, or horror genres within manga/manhua spaces.

Comfort collaborating with creatives and receiving feedback on your own work.

Multilingual abilities (especially Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese) are a plus but not required.

Hybrid role with 3 days onsite in Los Angeles.
