
Outside Sales Representative – Commercial Manufacturing Lighting
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Outside Sales Representative to grow our presence in the commercial manufacturing lighting market. This role focuses on developing new business and managing existing accounts by selling commercial lighting solutions, including fixtures, retrofits, and lighting controls. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a field-based, relationship-driven sales environment.
Responsibilities
Work closely with independent sales agencies, distributor customers, contractors, specifiers, and end-users to educate them on our products and drive demand
Provide ongoing sales training to sales agencies and distributor customers on the benefits of ORE Lighting products
Develop and maintain long-term, relationship-focused partnerships through exceptional customer service
Oversee and manage the performance of independent sales agencies, ensuring alignment with company goals and performance standards
Develop territory sales plans in collaboration with sales agencies and sales leadership
Analyze sales trends and market data to identify opportunities and develop strategies with sales agents
Become a market expert on ORE Lighting products, competitor offerings, pricing, and industry trends, report insights to management
Travel throughout assigned markets to call on distributors, specifiers, contractors, and end-users
Maintain regular contact with existing customers to support ongoing and repeat orders
Develop and manage accurate contact information to ensure decision-makers are current
Cold call and prospect to develop new business opportunities
Display and attend industry trade shows and events
Work closely with assigned Inside Sales partners on current and future opportunities
Advise product and leadership teams on market trends and customer feedback
Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets
Qualifications (Must-Haves)
Lighting industry experience is required – candidates without lighting experience will not be considered
3+ years of outside B2B sales experience within the lighting industry
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
Experience working with sales agencies, distributors, and contractors
Strong consultative sales, training, and presentation skills
Ability to manage long sales cycles and multiple territories or accounts
Strong analytical skills to interpret sales trends and develop strategies
Comfortable working independently in a field-based role
Proficiency with CRM systems and standard sales tools
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly within assigned territory
Preferred Experience
Industrial or commercial lighting sales experience
Knowledge of LED lighting, controls, and retrofit projects
Experience selling to manufacturing plants, warehouses, or distribution centers
Base salary plus commission
Mileage reimbursement
Paid time off and holidays
