Role Description The primary role of Event Sales Manager is to manage venue revenue generation and client relationships for Skylight’s San Francisco portfolio. This is a front-facing, sales-led role responsible for driving bookings, closing deals, and growing repeat business while ensuring seamless execution in partnership with operations.
This role is highly client-facing and serves as the primary lead for events across Skylight’s San Francisco venues. The Event Sales Manager is responsible for managing inbound inquiries, guiding prospective clients through the event planning and contracting process, coordinating site visits, creating proposals, executing contracts, and cultivating relationships with clients across the SF market. Past projects have included technology conferences, immersive exhibitions, culinary festivals, art shows, and more.

Skills & Qualifications
4+ years of experience in event sales, venue sales, or event management
Aptitude for sales/operations, i.e. personable, articulate, organized, and proactive
Proven ability to sell, negotiate, and close deals independently
Experience managing a team of full-time individuals
Professional command of written and verbal speech
Proactive and responsive attitude
Productive time management
Detail-oriented and organized
Familiarity with Google platforms including Calendar, Drive, and Mail
Familiarity with sales tools including Salesforce and Salesforce Inbox
Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required by event activity
Responsibilities Venue Sales
Own the full sales cycle for SF venues, from inbound inquiry through contract execution.
Display knowledge of venue narrative, Skylight’s value proposition and demonstrate market expertise across events and filming.
Lead client walkthroughs and consultations, guiding clients through both commercial and operational phases.
Create customized event packages and pricing strategies to maximize revenue.
Develop strong relationships with brand and production partners to encourage repeat business.
Negotiate pricing and develop contract fluency to close sales.
Utilize Salesforce database to track, report and analyze event data.
Fortify Skylight’s sales efforts by strategically capturing and memorializing significant moments onsite.
Event Operations Support
Partner closely with operations to ensure events are executed smoothly and profitably.
Support event operations through comprehensive internal and client facing checklists, ensuring all necessary documents (schedules, insurance policies, city permits) specific to each event are collected and that Skylight’s activities onsite are well-organized.
Provide on-site support during event hours as needed, serving as a client‑facing point of contact and supporting operations to ensure successful execution.
Interface with building staff and landlord partners to ensure trust, alignment, and operational success
Manage post‑event closeouts, including damage reconciliation, post‑mortems, and financial wrap‑ups
Business Development & Market Growth
Support broader West Coast business development and placemaking initiatives.
Develop and manage communication systems between Skylight Real Estate Partners and Skylight (ex: calendars, weekly updates, monthly progress reports and quarterly recaps).
Identify new revenue opportunities with property owners, developers, and strategic partners.
Provide client and market insights to inform product development and venue strategy.
Company Management
Manage SF coordinator & part‑time team of Site Representatives to support successful venue sales & operations across the above.
Working Hours: 9 AM - 6 PM, Monday - Friday (in office), evenings or weekends as dictated by event schedule.
Compensation:
Base Salary: $100K + annual performance bonus
Event pay for on site event work outside standard working hours at 1.5x
Health and dental benefits insurance coverage. Please note you must enroll within 30 days of start date or during annual enrollment periods
Participation in a retirement plan that includes a 401K Plan. Please refer to our 401K Summary for additional details, subject to plan requirements
