Senior Marketing Manager/Marketing Manager, Random House (Hybrid)
Random House, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, seeks a Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager to develop and execute marketing campaigns for a diverse list of adult fiction and nonfiction titles. The role supports books across commercial and literary fiction, history, memoir, current events, popular science, and beyond, and requires the ability to manage multiple projects and genres simultaneously.
Random House is home to bestselling and award‑winning authors such as George Saunders, Brené Brown, and Suleika Jaouad, as well as many of the most recognizable voices in contemporary publishing. Our list reflects a wide range of perspectives and readerships, and this position plays a key role in shaping how those books reach audiences.
This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative, detail‑oriented marketer who enjoys balancing strategy with hands‑on execution and excels at clear, thoughtful communication with authors, agents, and internal partners.
Specific responsibilities include:
Create, lead, and execute innovative, integrated marketing campaigns for front‑list titles, informed by market research, consumer insights, and performance data
Manage multiple projects and titles simultaneously, balancing competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and strategic focus
Oversee title marketing strategies, including advertising, social media, analytics, and budgets, to maximize awareness, engagement, and sales
Develop and implement social media and digital marketing strategies designed to connect authentically with each book’s target audience
Collaborate closely with Editorial, Publicity, Sales, and Design teams to ensure cohesive and effective campaigns
Serve as a key point of contact for authors and agents, providing clear communication, thoughtful guidance, and regular marketing updates
Communicate campaign plans and progress to internal stakeholders, including sales teams, editorial and publishing, and senior management
Maintain a strong awareness of trends in the adult book market, publishing landscape, and digital platforms, and proactively suggest new approaches to reach readers, influencers, and booksellers
Analyze campaign performance and use insights to refine strategies and inform future marketing efforts
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in book marketing for a manager position; 7+ for senior marketing manager
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to work across multiple genres and manage a high volume of titles and projects simultaneously
Strong experience developing integrated marketing campaigns that may include paid media, social media, and influencer strategies
Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with authors, agents, and cross‑functional internal teams
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage budgets in a fast‑paced environment
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities at once
Results‑driven, resourceful, and able to work independently while also thriving as part of a collaborative team
Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital marketing trends, and audience engagement best practices
Familiarity with digital analytics, online marketing tools, and basic design principles is a plus
The salary for Senior Marketing Manager position is $79,000 and the salary for Marketing Manager is $73,500.
All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
This hybrid position has occasional in‑office responsibilities, including but not limited to in‑office meetings, author visits or events, and mailings packaged and sent from the office. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri‑state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
