Responsibilities
Assume 24/7 administrative accountability for the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality emergency nursing services
Lead day-to-day ED operations including staffing plans, patient flow/throughput, resource utilization, and escalation management
Supervise, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care delivery across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate ED personnel, promoting engagement, competency, and performance consistency
Develop and execute departmental goals, policies, and workflows, including performance improvement initiatives and outcomes tracking
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies; maintain readiness for audits and surveys
Consult and communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and administration on clinical operations, nursing issues, and policy interpretation
Partner with patients, families/significant others, and outside agencies to support comprehensive, coordinated emergency care
Maintain high standards for documentation, chart review, and follow-through on clinical and operational requirements
Serve as house supervisor as assigned, including responding to codes throughout the hospital, completing assessments/charting, and ensuring appropriate documentation and escalation
Qualifications
Current, active state RN license in good standing
Current BLS certification (maintained)
Current ACLS certification (maintained)
Current PALS certification (maintained)
CEN preferred
Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience (clinical leadership required)
Minimum 3 years of continuous clinical experience in an acute care/clinical setting (ED experience strongly preferred)
BSN required, or enrolled in a BSN program with completion within 1 year of hire
Facility-Specific (as applicable)
Non-OB facilities: NRP certification within 30 days of hire (maintained)
