
This is a student volunteer experience position. Volunteer experience participants receive monthly stipend payments.
This position is a crucial part of KDUP’s leadership. It involves collaborating with the Music Director to set station goals and ensure smooth operations. Key responsibilities include managing DJ schedules, training new DJs, enforcing station policies, and fostering a strong community among DJs.
Core Duties
Collaborate with KDUP team members in setting goals and objectives for the radio station
Assist in the overall management of station and staff, as well as help General Manager ensure smooth operations and programming (in line with UP standards)
Assume the duties of General Manager in the case of their absence
Manages, organizes, and updates online applications, KDUP Google spreadsheet with physical and webshow schedules
Work closely with Promotions Director to design and distribute semester show schedules throughout campus
Oversee the process of auditioning, selecting, onboarding and evaluating DJs
Lead DJ training sessions for new hires, along with Productions Director
Develop bi-monthly newsletters to DJs with updates on quality control, music department picks, in-station equipment fixes, upcoming events, and other pertinent information
Schedule and organize two DJ-centric events per semester to foster a strong community and gather DJ feedback
Serves as main point of contact for all DJs, responsible for ensuring DJs are regularly attending their radio shows and accurately filling out/saving format reports
Meet with DJs not following station protocol to discuss disciplinary action, including but not limited to forfeiting their privilege to broadcast with KDUP
Attend KDUP trainings, meetings and events
Other relevant duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Required: Minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA to apply
Required: Attending weekly staff meetings
Required: Attending at least 3 volunteer meetings per semester
Required: Must get absences cleared in advance through GM and/or KDUP advisor
Required: Hold 2 office hours each week
Required: All staff are expected to attend and help with set up and tear down for all KDUP events
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: High attention to detail and working within an assigned budget
Preferred: Effective, timely, and professional communication to students, faculty/staff, and external vendors
Preferred: Prior experience with music/radio stations, or an interest in learni
Physical Requirements
Preferred: Ability to lift 25-50 pounds and push heavy equipment on wheeled cart
