
Carpenter Foreman (Commercial Construction)

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and driven Carpenter Foreman to lead our carpentry crew on commercial construction projects. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, this hands‑on leadership role is responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of field carpentry operations—from layout and framing to finish work—while ensuring high‑quality output, safety compliance, and productivity. Duties
Planning and Communication (expectations plans, goals, results, etc. ongoing).
Plan work with Superintendent, Project Manager and Production Manager prior to performing pre‑ planning process.
Coordinates timely deliveries of materials needed for workers to be productive at task at hand.
Working foreman, assigns, works with and assists workers in all tasks assigned to their work crew or crews.
Directs concrete formwork construction and removal.
Directs work crew to install doors, frames, hardware, millwork and cabinetry installation.
Examines and effectively, uses updated project documents and shop drawings.
Lays out work using proper layout tools accurately.
Determines with Project Superintendent, the proper sequence of activities.
Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
Reading cost reports and helping with updated audits.
Works with warehouse management to secure equipment and maintenance as needed at the worksite.
Responsibilities
Assist in the training/orientation of employees when needed.
Develop, coach and mentor apprentices and employees who are learning the trade.
Assist in the employment processes as requested.
Promote teamwork and positive communication among employees.
Attend and participate in miscellaneous site meetings, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas as needed or requested by project superintendent.
Develop and stress a sense of urgency to all field workers.
Skills and Abilities
High level carpentry skills.
Competency in site and building layout and in the use of survey instruments accurately as is appropriate.
Competent in basic math, algebra, geometry, volumes and weights.
Skilled in the computation of ratio, proportion, percentage, surfaces, volumes, weights and measures.
Able to read and understand safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
Effectively communicate verbally with co‑workers.
Effectively manage one's time and deal with problems that arise.
