
Job Summary
The Parts Counterperson will be responsible for assisting customers with parts inquiries, ordering parts, and ensuring efficient and accurate inventory management. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team and help ensure the smooth operation of the parts department. This role is key to providing outstanding customer service, maintaining strong relationships with customers, and supporting the service department by delivering the parts required for vehicle repair and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule Our Parts Department is open Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, and Saturday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM. This position works a rotating schedule: one week Monday–Friday, the next week Monday–Saturday. Shifts are 8 hours within operating hours and include a 1-hour unpaid lunch.
Compensation Compensation:
This position offers a competitive hourly wage plus a monthly performance-based bonus. Total starting earnings typically range from
$43,000–$46,000 annually , depending on experience, performance, and hours worked. Bonus opportunities are paid monthly and are based on individual and/or department performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and assist with parts requests in person, through the shop, over the phone, or via email.
Identify and recommend appropriate parts based on customer needs, vehicle make, model, and year.
Process parts orders, including verifying stock availability, placing special orders, arranging deliveries and invoicing the customer.
Communicate with customer and shop on the status of any part order and notify them upon delivery to the dealership.
Maintain accurate inventory records, track parts orders, and restock shelves as needed.
Handle returns and exchanges in accordance with dealership policies.
Provide price quotes and process transactions for parts sales.
Work closely with the service department to ensure parts are delivered timely for scheduled repairs.
Assist in the management of parts inventory, including conducting regular stock checks, cycle counts, and annual fiscal inventory.
Ensure parts are stored and handled properly to prevent damage or loss.
Offer additional product recommendations and promotions to customers.
Maintain a clean and organized parts counter and storage areas.
Stay informed about new parts and products available in the market.
Understands and follows federal, state and local regulations applicable to industry.
Additional miscellaneous duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency with technology and computer systems.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills for processing orders and transactions.
Strong work ethic and professional appearance.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of automotive industry trends and new products.
Knowledge of automotive parts, tools, and equipment.
Previous experience in parts counter sales or automotive parts.
Proficiency with parts management software.

Frequent lifting of parts boxes (up to 50 lbs.), standing for extended periods, and frequent walking.
