
Role Overview
The Associate will drive business development initiatives by identifying and pursuing new commercial and industrial customer opportunities through market analysis and tailored proposal development. This role includes cultivating and maintaining client partnerships, building and analyzing financial projections, and assisting in the structuring and negotiation of power purchase agreements and other related commercial contracts.
Duties & Responsibilities
Market and close renewable energy offerings structured as long-term energy supply agreements and other structured commercial financing solutions
Identify, qualify, and advance new business prospects nationwide, with a focus on behind-the-meter solar and storage installations serving commercial, industrial, and government customers
Conduct client meetings both in person and through virtual platforms to develop and progress sales opportunities
Engage prospective customers to assess their sustainability targets and energy needs, and design tailored renewable energy strategies aligned with their objectives
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, finance, legal, and asset operations teams to coordinate proposal development, pricing packages, indicative terms, and transaction execution
Support the review, structuring, and negotiation of key transaction documents such as energy supply agreements, engineering and construction contracts, site access arrangements, and asset transfer agreements in partnership with senior deal leads and counsel
Represent the organization at conferences, industry forums, networking events, and professional association meetings to cultivate relationships and expand the opportunity pipeline
Leverage CRM systems, financial analysis software, and internal evaluation tools to assess opportunity viability, optimize project economics, and track business development activity
Maintain organized virtual data rooms and assist with project-level diligence and documentation throughout development and closing processes under senior leadership guidance
Prepare and coordinate responses to competitive solicitations, including formal requests for proposals and qualifications
Develop polished, customized pitch materials, bid packages, and client-facing presentations using standard business software applications
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree required with several years of hands-on experience in solar or energy storage business development, deal sourcing, or sales; graduate-level education a plus
Highly organized, performance-driven professional who thrives in team-based settings within dynamic and rapidly changing environments
Comfortable delivering presentations to customers and executive leadership teams
Background supporting the structuring and negotiation of sophisticated commercial contracts
Strong written and oral communication abilities
Advanced quantitative capabilities, including experience building and evaluating financial models for renewable energy projects and associated incentives
Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with U.S. electricity markets and regulatory frameworks preferred
Ability to work in the office several days per week
Demonstrates integrity, ownership, reliability, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset
Ability to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
