The Sales Controller is responsible for overseeing sales performance, pricing, trade spend, and commercial reporting across all customer channels, including retail, distributors, and national accounts. This role acts as a key business partner to Sales, Finance, and Operations, ensuring data accuracy, margin control, and informed decision‑making to drive profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze sales performance by customer, channel, product, and region.

Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports, dashboards, and KPIs.

Track actuals vs. budget/forecast and explain variances.

Support sales forecasting and demand planning in collaboration with Sales and Operations.

Analyze pricing structures, discounts, promotions, and rebates.

Monitor gross margin by product, customer, and channel.

Support pricing decisions for retail, distributor, and national account customers.

Ensure pricing compliance and approval workflows are followed.

Trade Spend & Promotions

Track trade promotions, allowances, and customer programs.

Evaluate ROI on promotions and commercial initiatives.

Ensure accurate accruals and reconciliation of trade spend with Finance.

Customer & Contract Support

Support national account agreements, including pricing terms, volumes, and rebates.

Maintain customer master data related to pricing and commercial conditions.

Assist Sales with customer profitability analyses and business reviews.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as a liaison between Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations.

Support inventory and production planning through accurate sales insights.

Provide data and analysis for strategic initiatives and new product launches.

Systems & Data Management

Maintain and improve sales reporting tools (ERP, CRM, Excel, BI tools).

Ensure accuracy and consistency of sales and commercial data.

Identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting processes.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.

3–7 years of experience in Sales Controlling, Commercial Finance, or Sales Analysis.

Experience in

CPG, food manufacturing, frozen foods, or consumer goods

preferred.

Strong understanding of pricing, margins, trade spend, and sales KPIs.

Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems and BI tools a plus.

Ability to work with large data sets and translate numbers into insights.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

High attention to detail and data accuracy

Commercial and business‑oriented mindset

Ability to communicate clearly with Sales and non‑finance stakeholders

Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
