Salary Range

$54,000 to $83,500 (Based on education and years of relevant teaching experience) The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1.0) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part-time or late-start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly. Certified Salary Schedule

Glenwood Springs High School is a comprehensive public high school of about 1,000 students, known for academic rigor, strong arts programs, and a clear mantra: Changing Students' Real-Life Chances. We are looking for a Band Director who will embrace that mantra and help our students make music at the highest level.

Position Overview This is a well-established, high-energy program with ambitious students and a strong tradition. Our musicians range from beginners taking their first steps to highly accomplished performers pursuing Honor Band and All-State opportunities. They are serious about their craft and eager for a mentor, role model, and joyful, demanding musician who will take them to the next level.

After-school drumline (with dedicated coach)

Enrollment and interest are growing each semester. Storage rooms are full of instruments and equipment; the next director will inherit a well-resourced program ready to develop further.

The Person We are looking for a skilled and experienced educator—ideally with several years teaching middle and/or high school instrumental music—who combines excellent classroom management with musical expertise and a clear sense of purpose.

The successful candidate will:

Be a strong conductor and teacher of instrumental technique

Build relationships with students rooted in high expectations and warmth

Sustain and extend a culture of musical excellence and inclusion

Work collaboratively with colleagues and feeder programs

Education and Licensing Guidelines

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Active Colorado teacher license, authorization, or the ability to obtain

K-12 Music Endorsement, or ability to obtain

Official transcripts must be provided upon hire. For international transcripts, an evaluation is required through a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)

Visa candidates: An initial (3-year) license is the minimum requirement for employment offers

Physical Requirements

May include standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi-level buildings.
