The YMCA of Southern Arizona is looking for a dynamic, cause-driven leader to serve as our Executive Director of Youth Development.
Job Description The Executive Director of Youth Development reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and is responsible for all aspects of Youth Development programs including budget development, fiscal management and control, program development, promotion and marketing, volunteer and staff development, strategic planning, personnel administration, and risk management. In addition, this position helps educate, motivate, and inspire youth development staff and volunteers in implementing best practices. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to partner with volunteers, community organizations, and stakeholders to ensure goals are met.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required with six (6) or more years of professional experience, non-profit setting experience preferred
Significant experience in all aspects of day-to-day operations; including administration, supervision, and program development
Deep understanding of the philosophy of the YMCA as it relates to the physical, emotional, spiritual, and environmental safety and learning of the members, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders
Intermediate or advanced knowledge of information technology and data management programs
Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work with confidential matters
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, especially with disparate audiences
Extensive experience with program evaluation, statistical analysis, organization, and planning skills as well as relational skills, integrity, flexibility, and the ability to focus during the midst of commotion
Knowledge of quality program development and implementation, innovation, continuous improvement, and sound financial practices
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and/or weekends as required
Essential Functions
In coordination with the VP leads organizational level change
Maintains a culture of best-in-class customer service
Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and attends and participates in monthly meetings
Develops and monitors strategies for ensuring long-term fiscal management and financial viability and mentor Program Directors who are responsible for department specific budgets
Achieves budgeted financial objectives
Monitors monthly financial reports to ensure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled
Supervises staff to ensure that sound operation principles are in practice. Is accountable for the financial performance of these units.
Assists staff in the planning, development, training, and implementation of new program focuses and activities
Coordinates the training of Y staff, including staff programs focusing on mission, expectations, and customer service
Acts as the representative of the YMCA of Southern Arizona by developing positive relationships with local community partners, volunteers and the general public
Is responsible for customer relations, including complaint resolution
Is responsible for operational growth through program expansion, customer recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site development, collaborations, mergers, and acquisitions
Ensures compliance with all regulatory licensing standards and requirements
Oversees employee and volunteer compliance with abuse risk management by conducting screenings, providing supervision, training, and feedback, enforcing policies and procedures, responding to violations and reports, ensuring mandated reporting, and maintaining clear communication
Adheres to all YMCA of Southern Arizona policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Certifications
Current Fingerprint Clearance Card
At least twenty-five (25) years of age
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications or completion within thirty (30) days of hire
Completion of YMCA’s online training upon date of hire
