Summary

Ronald McDonald House Charities Ann Arbor is seeking an articulate and outgoing relationship-builder to cultivate strategic partnerships and build a robust Annual Fund and operational growth strategy to create multiple channels of fundraising to increase the overall revenue of the organization’s annual fund. This position works closely with the Chief Development Officer to cultivate new fundraising strategies and platforms to engage diverse constituencies to fundraise on behalf of RMHCAA. The Director of Development role collaborates and oversees a development team to strategically accomplish development and organization goals to carry out our mission and core values. Primary Responsibilities

Development Strategy and Planning

Develop and monitor the overall development strategy of the Chapter’s annual revenue budget working closely with the Chief Development Officer to implement a five-year vision of Annual Fund growth. Develop strategic growth plans and engagement strategies around all annual development activities to include, but not limited to, all fundraising events, direct appeals, digital fundraising and restaurant fundraising. Engage new fundraising strategies to provide engagement opportunities for all prospective donors to include expansion of reach outside of the Ann Arbor community and creative approaches to segmentation of constituency groups. Develop and manage robust mid-level and major gift cultivation strategies and prospect management structures, utilizing data and CRM capabilities, to complement a Comprehensive Campaign plan and long-term operational revenue growth model. Oversee and monitor stewardship and donor recognition plans for the annual fund and continuously work with the Chief Development Officer and fundraising-focused team members to implement moves management with mid-level donors capable of making major gifts. Development Operations Leadership

Responsible for providing leadership and day-to-day management of development team to ensure overall success of the Annual fundraising budget. Prepare and manage an annual development plan and timeline, execute monthly team meetings to track progress and priorities; directly support the team and guide strategies and goals. Prepare and oversee the annual revenue and expense budgets for all fundraising projects with the support and guidance of the Chief Development Officer. Prepare and provide a monthly Development Dashboard charting progress towards goals and assist in preparing a Development Report to be shared with the Board of Directors regularly to communicate development planning and strategies. Annual Fundraising and Development

Oversee development and execution growth plans of segmented cultivation and stewardship to grow volunteer solicitation, past family engagement as well as student and community engagement. Develop a plan and oversee the execution of multiple community donor campaigns during the year including family and volunteer fundraising campaigns. Oversee the plan and growth strategies for a robust digital fundraising program and lead and develop new ideas for direct mail and electronic/social media plans in collaboration with the Marketing & Brand Advancement Officer to enhance and expand Annual Fund efforts. Work closely with the Marketing and Brand Engagement Officer to enhance fundraising opportunities in all newsletters, website material, and media engagement opportunities for development. Develop and oversee a robust planned giving program to serve as a strong catalyst for future growth for the organization. Oversee a stewardship and donor recognition program that assists the development team to monitor, implement, and sustain a meaningful donor stewardship program. Develop and support a robust annual donor recognition plan to complement past and future campaign initiatives. Other Responsibilities

Be an active and supportive leader of the development team in all fundraising events, meetings, and related activities. Ensure alignment with the AFP Donor Bill of Rights and ethical standards. Contribute to the organization’s team efforts by maintaining positive, supportive and flexible working relationships with fellow staff and volunteers in the mutual pursuit of providing comfort and care to families of seriously ill or injured children being served by the Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor. Responsible for consistent and accurate RMHC brand representation. Flexible to perform other duties incidental to the work outlined in this position description. Education and Experience

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. 5-7 years progressive work in Fund Development with a particular focus on Development growth strategies, Marketing communications, public or community relations and/or related fields. Prefer previous development management and non-profit experience. Ability to manage and coordinate several projects simultaneously. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and personalities. Excellent time and project management and organizational skills. Excellent presentation skills (persuasion/sales/donor solicitation). Excellent written communication skills (grant writing, case statements, direct mail etc.). Flexible, diplomatic, trustworthy, creative, posed and professional. Enthusiastic, energetic and willing to work as a team member. Maintains a professional manner to interact effectively with the Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and community. Computer skills include Microsoft Office, Donor-based CRM or comparable database experience. Ability to maintain confidential matters Proven self-starter who works independently. Work Environment

Physical Abilities

Light sedentary office work. Frequently required to sit Physically able to travel throughout the RMHCAA region and between RMHCAA locations and others via personal vehicle or similar. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel; talk or hear. Must be physically capable of carrying 35 lbs.
