The Digital Forensics Senior Examiner is responsible for leading complex data collections and forensic investigations across a wide range of digital devices, platforms, and data sources. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong investigative instincts, and the ability to apply industry‑standard methodologies to preserve, collect, analyze, and report on digital evidence. The Senior Examiner serves as a subject‑matter expert, guiding junior team members, advising internal stakeholders, and ensuring all work adheres to legal, regulatory, and evidentiary requirements. Responsibilities include conducting advanced examinations, preparing clear and defensible forensic reports, supporting litigation efforts, and providing expert testimony when required. Additionally, this position collaborates closely with project managers, dev‑op teams, and our team of global forensic technicians to streamline forensic workflows and contribute to the successful execution of investigative engagements.
While the position is remote, qualified candidates must reside in California and be available to support engagements throughout the San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles markets.
Responsibilities
Lead onsite forensic data collections of laptops, mobile devices, and other ESI Perform forensic analysis of electronic evidence from data sources Present findings from forensic analysis to clients verbally and/or in written format, including providing expert testimony, as needed Develop and refine internal forensic workflows, SOPs, and technical documentation to improve team efficiency and consistency Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior examiners and evidence technicians, fostering skill development and quality control Support cross‑departmental strategic initiatives Help develop client relationships through client meetings and presentations Travel as needed to support engagements (including on short notice) – anticipated 20%‑40% Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Digital Forensics or adjacent field. 5‑7 years experience of hands‑on experience with collections, examinations, reporting, and testimony preparation. Strongly preferred certifications: GFCE, GFCA, CCE, EnCE, CFCE, CCME. Expertise using forensic tools, including: AXIOM, Cellebrite UFED, Forensic Email Collector, Forensic Explorer, FTK Suite. Experience in: Computer programming/scripting, databases, cyber security, incident response. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office Suite, project management suites, etc.). Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record‑keeping. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various departments. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to lift, carry, and transport evidence and equipment weighing up to 40 lbs occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation. Heavier items may be moved with assistance or mechanical aid as appropriate. Strict adherence to confidentiality and security protocols. Salary
$120,000 – $150,000 based on experience + bonus potential based on performance and company goals Benefits
