General Purpose The City of Commerce City is growing, and we are adding another Senior Park Ranger position to our Parks, Recreation, and Golf department. The Senior Park Ranger position provides leadership, mentoring, and training to rangers; patrols parks, trails, open spaces, and recreation center properties to provide visitor safety and resource protection; provides education and outreach; and ensures compliance with park rules and regulations. The Senior Park Ranger collaborates with city departments and external organizations to provide education and enforcement in parks, trails, and open spaces within Commerce City.

The anticipated schedule for this position is Sunday – Wednesday, 4, 10‑hour shifts. Must be flexible, as the start and end times vary with the time of year.

Hiring Salary Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. The hiring range is $34.48 – $38.31 / hourly.

Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. A minimum of three (3) years of parks law enforcement experience is required. A combination of experience in parks maintenance, natural resource management, code enforcement, or traditional law enforcement may also be considered. Experience in hiking and mountain biking required. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Possession of CPR and first aid certification within 3 months of hire and must maintain throughout employment.

Preferred But Not Required

Experience in environmental education and youth programming

Bilingual in Spanish/English

Personal Computer Employee Purchase Program: To encourage the development of employee computer skills, the City offers an interest‑free loan to you for the purchase of computer hardware (including a Desktop or Laptop) and software. The employee must have successfully completed their 6‑month Introductory Period for eligibility.

Recreation Center Membership: Employees and family members are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per person per year.

Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City’s award‑winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9‑holes or $18.00 for 18‑holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
