Role Summary The Key Account Manager (KAM) is a field-based role responsible for representing Akebia products to physicians and healthcare professionals and performing total territory account management. The KAM develops consultative relationships with Renal Healthcare Providers and provides clinical and economic knowledge of Akebia products, presenting our products’ value proposition to key stakeholders. The KAM will develop a comprehensive and effective territory business plan aimed at achieving and exceeding annual sales goals, supported by analytics, and will provide account management support to Nephrology accounts within a specific geography.
Responsibilities
Prioritize local market opportunities among top-tier healthcare professionals, including nephrologists, renal dietitians, affiliated group practices, and dialysis organizations.
Develop and maintain a high level of product and disease-area knowledge, Akebia product clinical data via approved materials, with customers in a professional manner.
Develop and evaluate account business plans to ensure they meet strategic goals and align with latest trends in key customer segments.
Present account business plans to management.
Communicate clinical and economic information to large group practices, physician executives, and medical directors in-line with promotional guidelines.
Demonstrate strong account management skills and follow-up within the renal care team to support initiation and maintenance of patients on Akebia products.
Serve as a resource to customers and Akebia employees regarding payer policies, reimbursement regulations, Medicare/Medicaid rules, and OSHA/HIPAA compliance as related to Akebia products.
Communicate and capitalize on open formulary access through effective implementation of the strategic targeting and pull-through plan.
Maximize use of approved resources to achieve territory and account-level goals.
Stay current on marketplace developments (e.g., VBC, Binders in Bundle, LDO Quarterly reports).
Qualifications
Required: 5+ years pharma/account management selling experience
Required: Possess valid driver’s license
Preferred: Graduate business or healthcare related degree
Preferred: Buy and bill experience and success
Preferred: Biologic/biotech sales and reimbursement experience
Preferred: Nephrology therapeutic area experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree
