HQ Media Public Records Coordinator – Department of Transportation
Classification: Information Officer I (Specialist)
Salary $6,031.00 – $7,547.00 per month (minimum salary for new to state candidates)
Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Public Records Officer/Manager, a Supervisor I, the incumbent serves as the Headquarters Media Public Records Coordinator for the Department. Responsibilities include:
Formulating, implementing, and administering Public Records Act guidelines and procedures to ensure statewide compliance.
Providing direction and guidance to district and division Public Records Coordinators to ensure timely responses to media public records requests.
Responding to media requests and handling the most sensitive requests received by the department, ensuring consistency across statewide responses.
Working Conditions Location: 1120 N. Street, Sacramento, CA. This position is primarily office‑based in a climate‑controlled environment. The office temperature may fluctuate due to occasional HVAC issues. The work environment is fast‑paced, busy, and requires flexibility in managing time, priorities, and assignments. It can be demanding and/or stressful.
Telework may be authorized at the discretion of the Department, subject to evolving telework policy. The selected candidate is expected to return to the headquarters as needed and may be required for business travel. All commute expenses to the headquarters will be the candidate’s responsibility.

Key qualifications include:
Eligibility for hire determined by score on the Information Officer I Exam.
Current eligibility for new to state civil services employment (examination list, transfer, reinstatement, or voluntary demotion).
