The Work:
As a Translator, you will play a crucial role in bridging language barriers for individuals in various sectors such as education, legal, medical, environmental, and social services. Your expertise is vital in helping diverse communities communicate effectively.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Provide precise spoken translations in various work scenarios, including lectures, discussions, and meetings.
Leverage technology tools to transcribe spoken English as required.
Translate original documents into Laotian with accuracy and cultural sensitivity.
Edit and enhance translated texts for clarity and coherence.
Uphold cultural nuances during translation to maintain meaning and context.
Complete additional tasks as assigned to support the mission.
Qualifications Qualifications - What You Need: High School diploma or BA Degree, or equivalent professional experience.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in translation and interpretation for Laotian.
Certification as a Translation Professional is required.
ATA Certification or other relevant translation credentials are highly preferred.
Experience collaborating with agencies such as the State Department, FDA, Health & Human Services, and Housing Authorities is a plus.
Fluency in Laotian is essential.
Ability to pass background checks as needed for specific projects or clients.
Exhibit discretion and neutrality in your translation work.
Demonstrated proficiency in written communication.
A broad understanding of various topics is advantageous.
Possess strong social awareness, empathy, and attention to detail in interpretation tasks.
Understanding of cultural variations in translation across different regions.
Capable of maintaining stamina for extended translation sessions.
Effective problem-solving abilities.
Skilled in using Microsoft and Adobe software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat.
Highly motivated with excellent organizational skills.
Able to establish and nurture strong professional relationships.
A self-starter, comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Reports to:
Deputy Program Manager Working Conditions: Professional remote environment.
On-call availability is necessary with 48-hour notification for potential assignments.
Ability to perform duties for extended periods is essential.
Proficient use of office productivity tools is required.
A designated professional workspace is needed for optimal productivity.
Must be able to sit for long durations while using a computer.
Flexibility in scheduling, including possible holiday work, may be needed.
Travel for business or professional development may be required.
Willingness to work outside traditional hours may be necessary.
