Job Summary The Cook 1 is a skilled culinary professional responsible for preparing high‑quality dishes, supporting kitchen operations, and ensuring all food is cooked to company standards. This role requires strong technical cooking skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. The Cook 1 also helps guide junior team members and maintains strict food safety and sanitation practices.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present menu items according to recipes and quality standards
Ensure proper food temperatures, portioning, and presentation
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, equipment, and storage areas
Follow all food safety guidelines, including proper labeling and storage
Assist with inventory, prep lists, and daily production needs
Communicate effectively with the Chef and team regarding specials, shortages, and operational needs
Support training and mentoring of Cook 2 and Cook 3 team members
Work quickly and consistently during high‑volume service periods
Maintain accurate food logs and required checklists
Required Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old
Minimum 3 years of professional cooking experience
Strong knife skills and knowledge of advanced cooking techniques
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume kitchen
Excellent teamwork, communication, and time‑management skills
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs as needed
Professional attitude and commitment to quality
Preferred Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Food Safety Certification
ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
Experience in hotel, resort, or high‑volume restaurant kitchens
