About the Role
The Executive Director will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to ensure the organization’s mission is advanced across multiple states, setting goals in partnership with the Board of Directors and overseeing execution of the strategic plan, acting as the primary spokesperson and advocate to grow visibility and influence, leading fundraising and financial management activities to secure diverse revenue streams and ensure financial sustainability, building and strengthening partnerships with government agencies, volunteers, donors and community stakeholders to support trail protection and access, and managing staff and operations to foster organizational alignment, collaboration and effective stewardship of resources.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in senior leadership within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization with responsibility for organizational direction and external representation, strong strategic planning and organizational development skills, demonstrated success with fundraising, donor relations and budget oversight, experience engaging with boards, volunteers and external partners including public-sector agencies, excellent communication and public representation abilities across diverse audiences, and integrity, credibility and respect for mission-centered, community-focused work.
