
Position Responsibilities:
Analyze project specifications and blueprints, participate in pre-bid meetings, and assess the scope of work and necessary estimate components.
Develop comprehensive and detailed estimates along with supporting documentation for evaluation.
Request and review proposals from material suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements and offer competitive pricing.
Explore various options and suggest the best value solutions considering cost, engineering requirements, quality, and material availability.
Cultivate and maintain positive and ethical relationships with project owners, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Support project operations for awarded contracts, which may involve estimating and pricing change orders and resolving any contractual issues.
Collaborate with the Proposal Coordinator to create complete and professional proposals, including all necessary information such as schedules, project narratives, and organizational charts.
Generate comprehensive conceptual proposals to aid in business development and client retention.
Contribute to the upkeep of the existing estimating productivity database.
Required Skills:
Ability to independently prepare thorough and accurate proposals. Strong grasp of conceptual estimating, various estimating techniques, and cost management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain bid details, exclusions, and clarifications to owners and subcontractors. Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing responsibilities effectively. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project or other scheduling software. Required Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred; a PE certification is advantageous. Has 5 - 7 years of estimating experience.
